World Cup and Law Enforcement

Despite our Law Enforcement resources being drained for this event, I am very happy that the Law Enforcement departments have been able to cope with our needs.

When this is over, we will focus significant attention on our taxi drivers to ensure that they operate safely and that they abide by the laws. This includes a focus on pick up points. Special thanks to our SAPS team who have put in extra hours on bicycles, foot and vehicle to make up for the members who are assisting at the stadium.

Well done, crime has again reduced comparative to last year! I must add that the members who helped at the stadiums, shopping centres and fan parks were picked up for their shifts several hours before and returned long after - a huge sacrifice.

Illegal Traders

As a community YOU can prevent crime by not supporting illegal traders who walk/drive around the town selling their goods such as fish, wood, brooms, memorabilia etc.

When illegal traders enter our community they have the opportunity to engage in other illegal activities because of their familiarity with the layout of the area.

If you are not sure if they are legal, ask for their licence which will show a specific location to trade. Report illegal traders to Law Enforcement 021 554 3947.

Armed Response Partnership

This partnership with the CPF has worked extremely well with successful arrests. Thank you to Avenue Response and Chubb.

StreetWatch

Martin Dutton, Dunker St and Edward Crescent have taken the initiative to install Surveillance cameras on entrance / Exits around Melkbos. The success of this project is dependent on funding from residents. Residents should email their intended support / suggestions for funding to info@melkbosstrand.net
This is an excellent solution to clamping down the crime in Melkbos!

Ship at Sea

This floating drilling machine is here for maintenance and will blow its fog horn in fog..... please do not inundate us with calls!

West Coast Road, N19 and N7

You have to slow down and be extremely patient on these roads. We have lost 3 lives this month alone with another 2 in critical condition.

God Bless,
Brett Laing
