2019 Golf Day on 15 March

To: All Our Valued Sponsors and Supporters

LET’S MAKE MELKBOS SAFER!

Firstly, please may we extend our most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the 2018 Melkbosstrand Neighbourhood Watch (MNHW) Golf Day. It was a fantastic success and enabled MNHW to implement Phase 1 of our ‘Overview Cameras’ programme. These cameras are positioned in key areas – or ‘hot spots’ – through the village (they constantly view and record activity in real time) and act as an “Eye in the Sky”. These 10 hot spots have been identified within Melkbosstrand by MNHW, SAPS and the security services, as needing surveillance through the ‘Overview Cameras’. Funds raised will also support the ‘Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras’ initiative, which is the sister programme to the ‘Overview Cameras’ and implemented in 2017, in partnership with the City of Cape Town.
Whilst the Overview Cameras monitor within Melkbosstrand, the LPR cameras are based at the main entrances and exits of Melkbosstand and form an integral part of a larger area security network between Cape Town and Melkbosstrand.

To further the work and successes so far achieved, our goal for the next MNHW Golf Day on 15th March 2019 is to raise funds to continue helping LET’S MAKE MELKBOS SAFER! To achieve this, the MNHW are rolling out Phase 2 of our ‘Overview Cameras’ programme. In
this second phase, the focus is on the continued maintenance and management of the existing LPR and Overview Cameras. To meet the growing coordination needs, there will be updates in the Control Room as well as installation of a network. Finally, funds will go towards the management and upkeep of the newly acquired Aerowing 1900 Twin Drone, which is to be used as part of our emergency response activities. All these enhanced services and security functions will certainly be a deterrent for criminals and will also be hugely beneficial to law enforcement and security organisations in Melkbosstrand in fighting and reducing crime.

Here’s how you can participate and contribute to help the MNHW raise the estimated R200,000 for the purchase, installation and maintenance of these cameras, maintenance of systems and improved infrastructure.
