On Saturday 2 February 2019 around 21:00, Melkbosstrand NHW Anti-Poaching Unit and Law Enforcement Marine Unit received information that a large group of poachers entered the water in Melkbosstrand.

Although we had mist and light rain during the night and morning, the members persisted, turning into a 8 plus hour operation. Preventing many of the poachers to make an escape, this left them with little choice but to remain in the water for a long period thus the water were taking its toll.
